CANADIAN ROCKIES BY TRAIN, set for October 2 – 10, 2010. Few places on earth rival the magnificent Canadian Rockies for breathtaking scenery and great accommodations. There’s no better way to get there than aboard VIA Rail’s acclaimed train “The Canadian.”
This complete 9-day tour begins with your flight from Milwaukee or Chicago (your choice) to cosmopolitan Vancouver, British Columbia, where you’ll tour the city, spend the night, and enjoy a fine dinner prior to boarding “The Canadian.”
Aboard the train, which is universally regarded as the finest operating in North America today, you’ll be swept back to a bygone era when train travel was the way to go. From the domed observation cars to the classic bullet lounge, you’ll find the service and comfort on this train to be absolutely first rate.
In your private bedroom on the train, which includes a sink and
private toilet, you’ll be rocked to sleep by the rhythm of the rails,
and then awake to savor a lovely hot breakfast in the dining car
as “The Canadian” continues eastbound toward the Rockies. While
you’re at breakfast, your steward will convert your bedroom into
a comfortable sitting room. From the dome car, take in spectacular
views of shimmering glaciers in the Albreda Icefields. Watch for
moose, mountain goats, bear and caribou along the way!
Upon arrival at Jasper, Alberta, you’ll transfer to the first of three spectacular Fairmont hotels you’ll stay in, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. During your 2-night stay, you’ll tour dramatic Maligne Canyon and Lake and have free time to explore the town of Jasper.
Next stop, one of the world’s most famous hotels – Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. En route to the hotel, view stunning waterfalls and take a ride across a 1,000 foot thick glacier.
