2019 President's Tour – Paris by Peggy
Want to not only visit the world’s most romantic city but also get to know it? Join me for my 2019 President’s Tour, Paris by Peggy. This is more of a “Paris experience” than a tour per se. You’ll see the classic sights that Paris is so famous for such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and more. But the key to falling in love with Paris is to get to know the Paris that Parisians love, the hidden gems that are off the well-beaten tourist path.
Paris is one of the world’s great walking cities. Many of the experiences you’ll enjoy can only be done by using the metro system and walking in small groups of no more than eight led by an English-speaking local expert. For this reason, the group size limit for Paris by Peggy is 24.
There’s so much more to tell you, so see the itinerary for details. I hope you’ll join me in discovering one of the world’s truly great cities.
P.S. Combine this with my 2019 President’s Cruise, “Burgundy, Provence & The French Riviera,” for the ultimate springtime in France experience.

Arrive in Paris
Arrive in the “City of Light” and enjoy a morning panoramic tour before lunch on your own. We’ll check in to the 4-star Hotel Mayfair, situated on a quiet side street off the Rue de Rivoli. Take a Paris Crash Course in the afternoon, a rundown of the most important situations you are likely to encounter during our time here, from ordering in a restaurant to navigating the metro. Following this entertaining talk by our local expert, our Crash Course guide will take us out onto the streets to test our new French skills before we sit down for a casual welcome dinner. (B aloft, D)
Eiffel Tower Food Tour
This morning following a leisurely breakfast, we’ll embark on our Eiffel Tower Food Tour. Discover one of the city’s most elegant residential areas on a gastronomic adventure that leads you to the best-kept foodie secrets of the 7th arrondissement. We’ll sample delicacies prepared by a variety of artisans one shop at a time and discover why grocery shopping in Paris can be (almost) as pleasurable as consuming the finished product. The balance of the day is at leisure with dinner on your own. (B, L)
Covered Passages Tour
After breakfast we’ll embark on our Covered Passages Tour. This off-the-beaten-path journey takes us back in time to discover the forgotten covered passages built during the first half of the 19th century. These intricate glass-roofed shopping arcades are a perfect snapshot of the “City of Light” when it was sizzling with class and style. There is no end to the miles of unusual antique shops, forgotten dusty bookshops, offbeat galleries and old-world cafés. We’ll also stop at the lovely gardens and courtyards of the Palais-Royal, a secret haven for knowledgeable locals. Enjoy lunch on your own with the afternoon to explore or relax before an unforgettable dinner cruise on the Seine. (B, D)
Giverny & Versailles
We’ll leave Paris this morning to visit not one but two amazing places outside the city. In Giverny, discover the home of the Master of Impressionism, Claude Monet. Our expert art history guide will show us both the home and grounds including Monet’s famous water garden with its Japanese bridge and water lilies. You’ll learn the story of this fascinating man’s life and see what inspired some of his most famous works. Then lose yourself in luxury at the Palace of Versailles. From the Hall of Mirrors to the Queen’s Bedchamber, you’ll witness a complex so stunning it is impossible to describe in a few mere words, with an elegant explosion of gold, crystal and luxury at every turn. The line to get in can be two hours long but we’ll have “skip the line” privileges. A picturesque stroll through the king’s royal gardens will be the icing on the cake. Enjoy dinner back in Paris on your own. (B)
Montmartre
Today we’ll head with our expert guide to Montmartre, one of the true must-see neighborhoods of Paris. Ever wonder where Picasso and Modigliani went after a hard day sweating over a canvas? Step back in time and learn how this area witnessed the creation of world famous watering holes such as the Moulin Rouge, Le Chat Noir and Le Moulin de la Galette, where artists converged to converse and drink absinthe into the wee hours. Many of these places still exist. This “village within a city” offers some of the most photogenic and charming streets of Paris, far from the hordes of tourists, with a bird’s-eye view of the city that you won’t believe! The afternoon is free with lunch and dinner on your own. (B)
Free Day
Today is yours to explore Paris as you wish or take one of several optional tours including a World War II Tour, French Revolution Tour, History of Fashion Tour and more. Later, relax like a local over a match of pétanque while sipping a traditional apéro (aperitif). You’ll get a hands-on lesson in this Parisian pastime. Then we’ll gather for a delicious wine pairing farewell dinner. (B, D)
Free Day
Today offers more optional tours: The Louvre, Orsay, Rodin Museum, Normandy D-Day Beaches, Champagne, Flea Market Tour and more. (B)
