Cruise Alaska with Kitty O’Neal
Dear Friends and Listeners,
I’m already excited for the summer of 2024 because we’re headed to Alaska in August onboard the stunning Celebrity Edge… a gorgeous ship I personally requested!
This cruise will take us in luxury to some of nature’s most spectacular landscapes as we explore destinations such as Ketchikan, which my chef husband Kurt Spataro is especially looking forward to as it’s known as the “Salmon Capital of the World.” We’ll take in Juneau, Endicott Arm-Fjord on the southern edge of Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness area and may even see harbor seals and their pups floating near the edge of the ship on giant chunks of ice. I’m really looking forward to seeing the magnificent Dawes Glacier known for its spectacular calving displays.
We depart from Seattle, WA and then head to picturesque landscapes, rich culture, and opportunities for outdoor adventures in magnificent Alaska! We welcome you to join us!

Along the way, we’ll electrify your tastebuds with samples from some of our favorite vendors. Enjoy a bit of leisure time before we make our way to Seattle’s Cruise Pier to board the Celebrity Edge and set sail northbound to Alaska. (B, D)
While at sea, take the time to recharge and enjoy the many amenities your spectacular ship has to offer. Lounge by the pool, be spoiled at the spa, taste the delicacies, or explore the venues on board until we arrive at our first amazing destination. (B, L, D)

You’ve never tasted salmon so fresh. Ketchikan, known as the “Salmon Capital of the World,” is also the ancestral homeland of the Tlingit people, who have carved the world’s largest collection of totem poles. For those seeking adventure, consider embarking on a canoe and nature trail excursion through the rainforest, or indulge in a wilderness exploration followed by an unforgettable, sumptuous crab feast! Endicott Arm – Dawes Glacier – Juneau, Alaska
Alaska’s Endicott Arm Fjord marks the southern edge of the 653,179-acre Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness area. As you sail through its 30-mile-long stretch, you can’t help but be amazed by the untouched beauty of the surrounding granite mountains, verdant valleys, and numerous waterfalls. Drifting icebergs, deep blue waters, and a spectacular tidewater glacier only add to this natural spectacle’s appeal. Your journey through scenic Endicott Arm Fjord ends with a front-row view of the striking Dawes Glacier. Standing over 600 feet tall and a half-mile wide, this very active icecap is known for its spectacular calving displays, which noisily produce huge, chunky icebergs that float in area waters. Remember to dress in wind-resistant layers for viewing the scenery outside on deck.
Getting to Juneau isn’t a breeze, requiring a journey by air or sea. However, once you arrive, you’ll find majestic views and rich culture awaiting you in every corner. This remote state capital of Alaska, with its snowcapped mountains, misty rainforests, colossal glaciers, and abundant wildlife, provides the perfect backdrop to immerse yourself in the wonders of nature. Framed by Mount Juneau and Mount Roberts, the city’s picturesque downtown area showcases centuries-old bars, charming boutique shops, and historic landmarks. (B, L, D)
KFBK Featured Experience: You’re invited to join Kitty at the Gold Creek Salmon Bake to savor the Alaskan flavors in a gorgeous, appetite-whetting, rainforest setting. Take a walk to Salmon Creek Waterfall, where you can see its namesake fish spawning. The smells of salmon grilling over an open alder wood fire will draw you back to the dining area where a hearty meal awaits. Feast on all-you-can-eat Alaskan-caught wild salmon and side dishes that are sure to delight. Wait… you don’t like salmon? We’ve got you covered. Alaskans have a slang saying for “newcomers” and are more than happy to provide baked chicken if you’re a “cheechako” instead.
Skagway, Alaska – Cruising the Alaska Inside Passage
The great Klondike Gold Rush lives on in Skagway’s charming downtown of restored 19th-century buildings and its historic railway. Located on the edge of the wilderness, this small town saw its fair share of the gold rush, with get-rich dreamers passing through. Today, its residents are more than welcome to share the stories of its untamed past, and there’s so much fascinating history to uncover. Later, sail beyond the Inside Passage Cruise into the more protected Alaska Inside Passage, a complex labyrinth of fjords and bays where whales and sea lions find refuge. (B, L, D)
Relish a day at sea as we cruise toward Canada. Immerse yourself in the world of Celebrity entertainment and onboard activities. Visit the Resort Deck, which offers sweeping ocean views and a rooftop garden, and explore the Magic Carpet. (B, L, D)
The seaside capital of British Columbia, Victoria, is located on Vancouver Island at the southern tip of Western Canada. Named after Queen Victoria, this one-time British colony has retained much of its colonial charm with decorative English gardens and castles but also reflects its modern landscape with bohemian shops, coffee bars, and international cuisines. The Edge ports in Victoria at dinnertime and departs just before midnight, allowing you to explore this charming city and perhaps grab a bite to eat at one of its local restaurants. (B, L, D)
