Dan O'Donnell Cruise – Alaska
There has been one destination that WISN listeners requested over and over and over through the years that we have never visited. Well guess what? I want to go there too!
With towering snow-capped peaks, soaring bald eagles, calving glaciers, and unspoiled nature as far as the eye can see, it’s no wonder why Alaska is known as the Final Frontier. The possibilities are endless: whale watching, flightseeing, dog sledding, gold panning, fly fishing, river rafting, glacier viewing, and salmon bakes. And we won’t run out of daylight to do it all since the sun won’t set until about 11:30 each night.
While it’s nature by day, it’s modern luxury by night. I can’t wait to board the completely made- over Celebrity Millennium and see her for myself. I could go on and on about the gourmet meals, fun bars and lounges, Broadway-style shows, and world-class spa and fitness center. Plus, Cruise & Tour managed to get us a premium beverage package, free WiFi, and a $150 per person shore excursion credit, which means you could literally spend zero dollars on board and still have a great time!
I’m planning some fun get-togethers throughout the trip, just for my group members. It’s time for your next great adventure. See you in Alaska!

Fly to Anchorage
Relax on our flight to Alaska’s biggest city, Anchorage. Known for its cultural sites, including the Alaska Native Heritage Center, the city is also a gateway to nearby wilderness areas and mountains.
Relax, unwind, take an optional tour… the day is yours to do as you choose. Tonight is your first opportunity to meet Dan and your fellow WISN listeners over drinks and dinner at a local brewery. (B, D)
This morning after breakfast, you’ll make your way by bus to Seward to board your Alaska cruise. Edging the Kenai Peninsula and framed by the glacier-covered Kenai Mountains that run along its southeastern spine, Seward is a rustic port town whose grand terrain will leave you breathless. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a sanctuary dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education and research. Here Alaska’s wildlife is on full display, with bear, elk, moose, buffalo and more, all easily viewable in this one of a kind nature park. (B, D)
The Hubbard Glacier is located about 30 miles north off the coast of Yakutat and is by far one of Alaska’s most exciting natural treasures. On your cruise to Hubbard Glacier, enjoy incredible picture-perfect views of this glorious mount of ice from about every angle on your ship. Named after Gardiner Hubbard, the founder and president of the National Geographic Society, Hubbard Glacier is the longest tidewater glacier in the world. (B, L, D)
Here’s your chance to take a glacial dogsled adventure in Alaska’s capital, where cultured sophistication meets the ruggedness of the Last Frontier. Juneau is a launch pad for outdoor adventures. Hiking, zip lining, whale watching, bear viewing by sea plane… you can pretty much do it all here! (B, L, D)
The great Klondike Gold Rush lives on in Skagway’s charming downtown of restored 19th-century buildings and its historic railway. Head to Klondike Gold Rush National Park Museum for an in-depth look at the Klondike and the two routes out of Skagway – Chilkoot Pass and White Pass. From the vintage train, admire the mountains and see the 1898 trail that fortune seekers traveled on foot. The White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad runs the vintage locomotives through the famously steep Chilkoot Trail and offers sweeping mountain views during its climb toward Canada. (B, L, D)
Icy Strait Point
For thousands of years, the Tlingit Indians have called this place home. Located near the city of Hoonah, and home to a historic cannery, Icy Strait Point also offers travelers the chance to view wildlife like humpback whales, orcas, seals, eagles, and brown bears, or to explore monuments to the region’s fishing heritage. (B, L, D)
Known as the “Salmon Capital of the World,” Ketchikan is also the ancestral home of the Tlingit people, who have carved the world’s largest collection of totem poles. If you’re up for an adventure, take a canoe and nature trail excursion through the rainforest or a wilderness exploration followed by a sumptuous crab feast you’ll never forget. (B, L, D)
Inside Passage (Cruising)
You’ll sail beyond the Inside Passage into the more protected Alaska Inside Passage in southeastern Alaska. This complex labyrinth of fjords, bays and lush green islands is home to an abundance of wildlife, including orca, mountain goats, bald eagles, bears, puffins, sea otters and much more. During the summer months, the long hours of daylight allow for ample opportunities for nature photos on your Inside Passage Cruise. (B, L, D)
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
