Mandy Connell Adventure – Costa Rica
We’re going to Costa Rica! I’ve always wanted to visit the rainforests, volcano and beautiful beaches and now IT’S HAPPENING! And unlike the trip I wanted in my 20s (hostels? no thank you), this one is all about comfort, natural beauty and zero stress travel.
You’re invited to join us!
The Mandy Connell Adventure Costa Rica
Exclusively for KOA NewsRadio Listeners
April 17 – 25, 2021
This trip has it all! First, we land in San Jose and explore a bit before we head to beautiful Manuel Antonio to check into the Parador Hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We’ll have a welcome BBQ so we can all get to know each other while enjoying the magnificent view! Then we’ll visit Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Central America for a day of beaches, lagoons, mangroves and lots of wildlife. Want to do some snorkeling and take a private catamaran ride? We’ve got that!
When we leave the Parador, we head into Costa Rica to volcano country. Just wait until you see the accommodations which await at the Hotel Arenal Kioro Suites & Spas! This place screams relaxation with hot springs and lush foliage. We’ll fly high above the trees on the Sky Tram, and you can choose to come down the easy way (the tram) or the way I’m coming down, which is via zip line! We have plenty of free time to explore this area and you can be as active or chill as you want. White water rafting? Yes please! Spa and natural hot springs? I’ll do that too.
Don’t miss the chance to make some wonderful new friends as well! So book now before this thing sells out!

Itinerary
Fly to Costa Rica
Upon arrival in Costa Rica’s capital of San Jose, we’ll meet our guide and driver and transfer to the Wyndham San Jose Herradura. Welcome to Costa Rica, one of the world’s premier ecotourism destinations, with a quarter of its land protected for national parks and wildlife reserves.
San Jose–Manuel Antonio
Today the real adventure begins as we make our way to the town of Manuel Antonio with lunch on own en route. After checking in to the beautiful Parador Resort & Spa, perched on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific, get to know Mandy, Chuck and your fellow KOA travelers over a welcome BBQ dinner. (B, D)
Manuel Antonio National Park
After breakfast, we’ll head out with our guide for a visit to Manuel Antonio National Park. It’s one of the most popular national parks in the country, despite being the smallest, for its stunning white sand beaches backed by evergreen tropical forests. The park is filled with beach vegetation, lagoons, mangrove swamps, 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds. One of the park’s biggest attractions is Punta Catedral, or “Cathedral Point.” This forest-topped cliff was once an island and is now connected to the coast by a narrow strip of land that separates the park’s two most popular beaches. After lunch just outside the park, we’ll return to our hotel for a relaxing afternoon. Enjoy dinner on your own tonight. (B, L)
Manuel Antonio
The morning is yours to explore Manuel Antonio on your own or take an optional tour. Enjoy lunch on your own or with fellow travelers before embarking on a private catamaran for a snorkeling adventure complete with dinner and a stunning sunset. (B, D)
Arenal Volcano
Today we’ll journey to the Arenal Volcano region. Known worldwide for its near-perfect cone shape, Arenal Volcano is a must-see destination in Costa Rica. On the morning of July 29, 1968, the supposed mountain suddenly erupted, continuing non-stop for several days and covering almost 4,000 acres with lava, rocks and ash. Nestled at the base of the volcano sits the Hotel Arenal Kioro Suites & Spa. After checking in to this stunning 5-star resort, enjoy free time to relax in their seven natural hot spring pools. Later, we’ll gather as a group for a cocktail before a delicious feast. (B, D)
Arenal Volcano & Sky Adventures
After breakfast we’ll visit Sky Adventures Arenal Park. Our adventure begins on the Sky Tram, flying among the trees and wildlife inside a comfortable and spacious gondola. At the end of the tram ride you can either go back down the same way or enjoy the ultimate adrenaline rush, the Sky Trek zip line. Then enjoy a scenic lunch before heading back to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure. (B, L)
Arenal Volcano Area (Free Day)
Enjoy a full day to relax at the spa and natural hot springs or take an optional tour to try and tame Costa Rica’s famed white water rapids. Tonight we’ll venture into town for an authentic Costa Rican dinner at a local restaurant. (B, D)
Arenal–San Jose
Today we’ll say goodbye to our volcanic retreat and make our way back to San Jose. Along the way we’ll stop at the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park to take a guided hike through the canopy in search of wildlife and stunning views. We’ll conclude our journey at the Wyndham San Jose Herradura where we will say goodbye to Costa Rica over a farewell dinner. (B, D)
Return Home
After breakfast we’ll transfer to the airport to fly home, reflecting on our unforgettable Costa Rican adventure. (B)
